There are no roads around Tortuguero so access can be done only by boat or plane. Therefore, travelers must plan to spend the night in San Jose before and after the package unless they fly back to San Jose in the morning ($59 not included). Flying back would allow the passenger to continue the same day to other destinations other than San Jose. Package includes round trip transfers by bus & boat, visit Braulio Carrillo National Park and an operational banana plantation in route, 2 nights accommodation in double occupancy, all meals and tours of the canals.
